My Signature Move Comes To Life

Loyal readers of this blog know that I settled on my signature photo last week at Niagara Falls. I skipped the time-honored jumping shot mostly because I suck at it, opting instead for this gun-toting shot:

Me at Niagara Falls last week

Well, today I got to try out the genuine article. In honor of my buddy Ollie’s 29th birthday (that’s right Ollie, I just outed your old age to the world), I joined him and a couple buddies at a shooting range in Prince George County, Maryland. In the interest of full disclosure, I have never held a gun before. Never. Everyone on the range figured that out pretty quickly when I felt the recoil for the first time and let out a primal yell. People also kept saying, “Stop pointing the gun at me!”

Oops.

After I got used to feeling like my shoulder might dislocate, I was rather impressed with myself. I managed to hit 10 out of 30 clay pigeons — not bad for someone who started out with an ungraceful “ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” So I’m thinking there’s an Olympic career in my future. Can you say Brazil 2016 anyone? I’ve would love to see Rio.

Behold, my signature photo:

My Signature Move

Oh my god! I’m holding a gun! Why isn’t everyone running for cover?

You can’t see my face, but I’m shouting: “Take the photo Ollie before my arm falls off.” Turns out, guns are heavy. Who knew?

See the smoke. That’s proof I’m not pretending.
